Comment:
We had limited time allocated for Central Park as we were running behind schedule so we decided to pay for a pedicab tour instead ( you should find the drivers hanging around outside the park near The Plaza Hotel). This was a quick and comfortable way of getting around the main stops of interest. We went for the 1 hour tour although longer ones are also available covering more stops in the park.
Our friendly pedicab driver pointed out any familiar spots that have been featured in Hollywood movies, and the buildings on the Upper East or West side that celebrities own and live in. An interesting story our guide told us was that celebrities would buy apartments on the Upper West Side instead of the Upper East Side which is more difficult to get approved for by the Upper East Siders, usually to prevent paparazzi or too many crowds hanging out in that area(like Madonna who apparently got rejected three times before buying an apartment on the Upper West Side instead).

'Strawberry Fields' memorial named after The Beatles song 'Strawberry Fields Forever' - in memory of John Lennon

Entrance to the memorial is located on Central Park West at West 72nd Street, directly across from the Dakota Apartments

the 'Dakota Apartments' on the Upper West Side - where John Lennon lived in the later part of his life & where he was murdered

Yoko Ono still lives in The Dakota & owns several of the apartments there

horse carriages are another method of transport you may wish to try out which you will also find just outside of Central Park
